A Living Legend
Nadubhagam Chundan
The very boat that carried Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1952 — still racing today under the banner of Punnamada Boat Club.
The Vessel
More than a snake boat. A monument that moves.
Few sporting institutions in the world can claim a vessel of such historical weight. Nadubhagam is the very Chundan Vallam that Nehru boarded on that unforgettable afternoon in 1952 — a moment that would give birth to the Nehru Trophy Boat Race.
Today, Punnamada Boat Club continues to race with Nadubhagam, preserving not only a historic vessel but the entire tradition it symbolises. Every stroke on the water is a tribute to decades of craftsmanship, community, and collective effort.

1952
The stroke that echoed through history.
When Nehru stepped aboard Nadubhagam, security warnings evaporated in the joy of the rowers. He raised his hand with the crew, and a photograph became a legend. Every race we run is a renewal of that promise — to carry the past forward, one paddle stroke at a time.
